With professional take-home teeth whitening, we can effectively help remove stains, boost your self-confidence and brighten your smile. Today, our Delta dentists explain how the professional teeth whitening process works at Ladner Village Dental.
While our teeth naturally get darker with age, many different foods and beverages can also cause stains or discolouration on your teeth. We can use non-invasive professional teeth whitening treatments to help restore your smile’s brilliance.
Teeth Whitening Treatments From Your Dentist
Our team of dental professionals at Ladner Village Dental offer patients custom teeth whitening systems to help remove stains and whiten our patients’ teeth in the comfort of their own home.
Teeth whitening treatments from our Delta dentists start with two brief appointments:
On your first appointment, impressions (molds) will be taken of your teeth so that we can create custom whitening trays that will be a snug fit for your smile.
At your second appointment, you’ll receive your custom whitening trays, a professional strength whitening solution and instructions on how to use the teeth whitening treatment to achieve the best results.
How You Can Whiten Your Teeth in the Comfort of Your Own Home
Your easy-to-use, lightweight custom whitening trays will come with instructions that may differ somewhat between dentists. That said, your dentist will provide you with specific instructions regarding your whitening treatment.
Most patients will be instructed to wear the trays with the whitening solution either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks, depending on the degree of staining that’s currently on your teeth and the desired level of whitening you would like to achieve.
Treatments generally take between 10 and 14 days to achieve the desired level of whiteness. If you aren’t certain how white is white enough, talk to your dentist for advice.
Hang on to your whitening trays after you have completed treatment to ensure you’ll have them ready for next time. When you notice that it’s time for a touch-up, simply get in touch with our office to order more of the whitening solution.
Note: It’s normal to feel tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth. This should subside shortly after you’ve completed your treatment. If you are experiencing side effects from professional teeth whitening, contact our office for advice.
